This oversized book is a reinterpretation of Robert Hooke's 1665 publication Micrographia and the “new Worlds and Terra-Incognitas” described therein. Taking the form of an atlas, it places Hooke’s drawings in a context generally reserved for geographical maps at a regional or continental scale. The book includes my own original narrative and manipulations of Hooke's imagery through the addition of topographic contours and hydrologic systems based on real-world places. The microscopic becomes territorial, subverting notions of scale and calling into question the distinctions between fact and fiction, observation and interpretation, truth and imagination.
